Meyer sets, topological eigenvalues, and Cantor fiber bundles

چکیده
We introduce two new characterizations of Meyer sets. A repetitive Delone set in R with finite local complexity is topologically conjugate to a Meyer set if and only if it has d linearly independent topological eigenvalues, which is if and only if it is topologically conjugate to a bundle over a d-torus with totally disconnected compact fiber and expansive canonical action. “Conjugate to” is a non-trivial condition, as we show that there exist sets that are topologically conjugate to Meyer sets but are not themselves Meyer. We also exhibit a diffractive set that is not Meyer, answering in the negative a question posed by Lagarias, and exhibit a Meyer set for which the measurable and topological eigenvalues are different.

Association schemes on general measure spaces and zero-dimensional Abelian groups
Association schemes form one of the main objects of algebraic combinatorics, classically defined on finite sets. At the same time, direct extensions of this concept to infinite sets encounter some problems even in the case of countable sets, for instance, countable discrete Abelian groups. In an attempt to resolve these difficulties, we define association schemes on arbitrary, possibly uncounta...
متن کاملTopological Conditions for the Existence of Absorbing Cantor Sets
This paper deals with strange attractors of S-unimodal maps f . It generalizes results from [BKNS] in the sense that very general topological conditions are given that either i) guarantee the existence of an absorbing Cantor set provided the critical point of f is sufficiently degenerate, or ii) prohibit the existence of an absorbing Cantor set altogether. As a byproduct we obtain very weak top...
متن کاملTiling Spaces Are Cantor Set Fiber Bundles
We prove that fairly general spaces of tilings of R are fiber bundles over the torus T , with totally disconnected fiber. This was conjectured (in a weaker form) in [W3], and proved in certain cases. In fact, we show that each such space is homeomorphic to the d-fold suspension of a Z subshift (or equivalently, a tiling space whose tiles are marked unit d-cubes). The only restrictions on our ti...
متن کاملFiber bundles and Lie algebras of top spaces
In this paper, by using of Frobenius theorem a relation between Lie subalgebras of the Lie algebra of a top space T and Lie subgroups of T(as a Lie group) is determined. As a result we can consider these spaces by their Lie algebras. We show that a top space with the finite number of identity elements is a C^{∞} principal fiber bundle, by this method we can characterize top spaces.
متن کاملA PARAMETERIZED INDEX THEOREM FOR THE ALGEBRAIC K-THEORY EULER CLASS W.Dwyer, M.Weiss, B.Williams
A Riemann-Roch theorem asserts that some algebraically defined wrong– way map in K-theory agrees with a topologically defined one [BFM]. Bismut and Lott [BiLo] proved a Riemann–Roch theorem for smooth fiber bundles in which the topologically defined wrong–way map is the homotopy transfer of Becker–Gottlieb and Dold. We generalize their theorem, refine it, and prove a converse stating that an ap...
